Software licensing
We take on the customer’s entire software estate: operating systems, virtualization, DBMS, backup and server software. We inventory what is in place, size licenses and subscriptions for the actual configuration and manage them from specification to renewal.
Challenges we address
- There is no single register: it is unclear which software is used, in what quantity and under which licenses
- It is unclear how many licenses and subscriptions you need: per core, server, virtual machine or user — each product has its own model
- OS, DBMS and other software licenses must be recalculated when hardware or the virtualization platform changes
- There is a risk of non-compliance with vendor terms in an audit: licenses are missing or do not match actual usage
- Subscription and support dates of different vendors expire at different times — renewals must be managed without a gap in updates
- Software costs keep growing while licenses and subscriptions do not always match real needs
What we do
License inventory and audit
We survey installed software and existing licenses and subscriptions, compare them with the actual configuration and identify gaps and unused items.
Selection, sizing and specification
We select products and editions, size licenses per core, server, virtual machine and user — depending on the product’s licensing model — and prepare the procurement specification.
Microsoft, Red Hat and SUSE
Microsoft Windows Server, SQL Server and client access licenses (CALs); Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server subscriptions with support level selection.
Virtualization and HCI
Licenses and subscriptions for the Nutanix virtualization and hyperconverged infrastructure platform, guest OS license recalculation when the platform changes.
DBMS and backup
Licensing of DBMS — Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and others — and Commvault and Veeam backup software for the volume and configuration of the protected environment.
Supply, renewal and migration
Supply of licenses and subscriptions, renewal date tracking, vendor support, license recalculation when migrating to new hardware or a new platform.

A customer picks an application system and sees one line in the budget. They end up paying for four. A case study: a sizing dispute that nearly quadrupled a three-year licensing subscription, and the measurement that settled it eighteen months later.

Five replacement options, two starting points — the classic array-based setup and a vSAN cluster — and what happens to storage and networking once the 'ESXi plus Fibre Channel array' combo disappears from the picture.

- Which software do you work with?
- Operating systems (Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server), Microsoft server software, the Nutanix virtualization and HCI platform, DBMS (Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and others), backup (Commvault, Veeam). If the product you need is not listed, ask us and we will tell you how we can help.
- How is the number of licenses and subscriptions calculated?
- From the actual configuration: cores, servers, virtual machines or users, depending on the licensing model of each product. For Windows Server, client access licenses (CALs) are counted separately. The result goes into the procurement specification.
- Can you run a license inventory and audit?
- Yes. We survey the infrastructure and compare installed software with existing licenses and subscriptions: you see what is missing, what is surplus and what is due for renewal. The result is the basis for procurement and for the migration plan.
- Can subscriptions be renewed without a gap in updates?
- Yes, we track subscription and support dates of different vendors and raise renewals in advance so that updates and access to vendor support are not interrupted.
